Campaign gets wrong Dakota
FARGO, N.D. — A group lobbying U.S. senators to repeal the federal estate tax took out ads urging North Dakota voters to put pressure on Sen. Tim Johnson.
That might be difficult for them, because Johnson is a senator from South Dakota.
“We’re joining together now to tell Senator Johnson that North Dakota voters care about ending the death tax,” said the ad from the Washington-based American Family Business Institute, running on North Dakota radio stations.
Institute spokeswoman Carrie Simms said Tuesday the ad was being pulled.
“It’s just one of those faux pas that occur,” she said. “And we do know that Tim Johnson is in South Dakota.”
